Author Services

If you need a beta reader or a proofer, here I am!

Proofreading: The final stage of the editing process. To ensure your book is ready to hit the presses (or the digital publisher), a proofreader will step in and double-check everything. They’ll make sure that your book is free from spelling mistakes, grammatical errors, and other issues that could spoil a reader’s enjoyment of your writing.

Proofreading

Paid service

Proofreading is the final step before formatting and uploading your story to be available for sale.

I trained myself to proofread for myself and my fellow writing friends years ago and then turned it into a freelance side business. I have two long term customers that I have been working with for the past six years and recently have included new customers.

I work quickly and am able to hit your deadlines whether you are on an accelerated timetable or not. I am also able to work in either Microsoft Word or Google Docs, whichever is preferred by the client.

If you are interested, here is a sample contract/invoice. My email is on it and that is my preferred method of contact.

Beta reading

Free or barter service

A beta reader is a test reader of an unreleased work of literature or other writing, giving feedback with the angle of an average reader to the author about remaining issues.

Beta reading is one of my joys. I love being able to read a new work and help the author make it even better.

I do not charge for beta reading but will often barter for my own beta readers. Either way, I want to read your story! Here is a form if you are in need of a beta reader!

“In the past, Sheri has helped me when I have had an urgent deadline and always hit the dates she promised to send me the work.

Recently, she carried out a proofread on a story in an anthology, and I received an email from a new to me reader to state that she had been very impressed with whoever had edited and proofed the story as it was flawless.”
